A stanza constitutes a set of students who graduated together at the same time or who were classmates most of the time at St. Charles Grammar.
“CHARLES” in Latin is Carol. Our school was, ab initio, referred to as COLLEGIUM SANCTI CAROLI. Our school badge bore this Latin version.
Carolean ’65 was adopted by the 60-65 group of boys as their own Stanza’s name. These are our leaders who spent two to six years in the school between January 1960 and November 30, 1965. All other sets bear CHARLEANS’.
This is to clarify any ambiguity in the Stanza reference.
Latin, as a language helped a lot to build and enrich their English language usage and oratory. it was subsequently replaced with French due to the dominant usage of the latter - expecially in neighbouring West African countries.
What has not given way is the “bonds” that bound us from our teenage years; it remains very strong and enduring. It is a collective duty for every Old Boy, who wear the “CROWN” to protect this bond - Deo gratias.
This will be a repository for "Charleans Old Boys". It will have the functionality to enable retreival and display of a detailed record
of each old boy as currently stored in a bespoke database . The list demonstration below is just a taste of things to come. We are
hoping Charleans will participate and provide the required data to make this come to fruition. We are leveraging the almost boundless
opportunities provided on the internet platform to not only bring communities together but to also access data which otherwise, would be
impossible. Do contact the site admin for more info on this important project.
