Profile Overview:

Mr ADEWUMI, Charles Akinwale has over twenty five years cognate experience since graduating in 1989.

He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School/Pan-Atlantic University’s Senior Management Programme and Chief Executives Programme, which he completed in 1998 and 2013 respectively.

In addition, he holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) with specialisation in Finance from the Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly the University of Ife) in year 2000. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in year 2003, having previously qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991. He also holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy, from the Ondo State Polytechnic, where he won the overall best graduating student prizes of the Accountancy Department, the School of Business Studies and the entire institution for the 1988/1989 session

. He is presently the Managing Director of LeadCapital Limited, a prominent player in the Nigerian capital market. Before his appointment in September 2007 at LeadCapital, he was the Financial Controller cum Head - Country Finance of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank Plc, UK with effect from May 2006 after thirteen years of diverse banking experience at Leadbank Plc.

Before joining Leadbank Plc in 1992, he had worked in various audit firms, where he garnered vast experience in auditing, accountancy and business assurance practice from September 1989 to October 1992.

He served for four years (1995-1999) as a member of the Executive Committee of the Committee of Chief Inspectors of Banks in Nigeria. He also served on two Sub-Committees of the Bankers Committee – Review of Interest Rates (1999-2000) and Small & Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (2000-2005).

Wale has attended various courses abroad including the Strategic Bank Management Programme in Paris (1999). He is also an alumnus of the International Banking Summer School (Edinburgh, 2002).

He has served on the board of various companies including Royal Trust Assurance Limited, Lead Investments Limited, LBV Capital Limited, Nigerian Interbank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) and CrusaderSterling Pension Limited.

He is currently a non-executive director on the boards of Lead Securities & Investment Limited and Lead Asset Management Limited, both companies are key players in the Nigerian Capital Market.
